“Unless you raid the Opera, there is very little music by Philip Glass for choir which can be performed in concert …. Because of this, I came up with the idea of making a version of ‘Songs from Liquid Days’ for chorus and orchestra. Discussing this arrangement with Philip Glass was immensely helpful and encouraging – resulting in a number of the features found in the final version.”
Coming from one of Glass’s finest scores, the soundtrack to the film “Koyaanisqatsi,” “Vessels” follows the composer’s original manuscript. Similar to “Songs from Liquid Days,” the instrumentation features solely flute, soprano saxophone, and tenor saxophone – a vast difference from other recorded versions of the piece.
